SALMON & SEA TROUT RIVER IN NORDFJORD, NORWAY
![[Eidsdalen]](eid.jpg)
The close to six kilometres long
Eidselva runs through the beautiful valley of Eidsdalen,
from Hornindalsvatnet (the deepest lake in
Northern Europe, 514 metres) in the East to
Eidsfjorden in the West.
The river is mostly fast flowing with crystal
clear water. Eidselva is famous for being a good salmon river,
they often catch especially big salmon here in the
beginning of the fishing season. Later in the summer
a lot of sea-trout of superb size and quality
goes up the river.

Here is a picture of the Alsaker rapid.
If the river is high and cold fish can be reluctant
to pass the Alsaker rapid. When
this happens fishing the pools below the
fall can be very good. There is also a good
pool upstream of this rapid. The Alsaker
part of the river is about 1,8 kilometres long and is situated on the North bank of the river.
